Shorebird Roost · Quandamooka Country

Some of these birds flew here from Alaska without stopping — over eleven thousand kilometres in nine days. They return each year to feed and rest before the journey north to breed.

This high-tide roost was built for them. When the mudflats are submerged, it is one of the few places on Pumicestone Passage where migratory shorebirds can rest undisturbed.
